Ellen Pompeo Says No Cheerios for Stella

INFphoto 1265165 180x300 Ellen Pompeo Says No Cheerios for StellaGrey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo admits to being “a little obsessed” with healthy eating and excercise, so it should come as no surprise that she has taken a keen interest in the diet of daughter, Stella Luna, now that she is beginning to eat solid foods. Here she was spotted at the Whole Foods in New York last week, and she recently told People that she is swearing off junk food for the seven-month-old, choosing instead to puree her own food.

On the banned foods list? Cheerios! (She claims that when the time comes, she’ll have organic oats instead.)

Oh, the things you do with your first child. I can also remember buying and pureeing fruits and vegetables for my son, wanting him to have these perfectly healthy well-balanced meals. I also remember thinking that because he would eat anything at 10 months, it  meant he’d never be picky. Ha. Now he’s 3, and all he’ll eat is grilled cheese.

But no Cheerios? She’s missing out on a whole universe of little-kid experience here. I mean, getting kids to feed themselves is an uphill battle. It helps to have a low-cost, impossible-to-choke-on finger food at the ready so that you aren’t apoplectic when your little darling sweeps all of the carefully steamed organic mangos you just diced off the highchair tray in a random fit of toddler pique.

Also, how will she ever play ‘Guess Where I Found a Cheerio? Those things are like  pine needles from last year’s Christmas tree, popping up in the craziest of places—in a pair of shoes at the back of my closet, under the rugs, and my personal favorite—in the neck folds of  my newborn daughter, just days after she came home from the hospital. I’m guessing my toddler decided he’d “help” with the baby on that one.

Where do you stand on the junk food issue for kids? Is a little bit of junk okay, or do you take the hard line that Pompeo seems to be taking?

With Mcdonalds revealing all their foods DOES cause cancer. Im definately onboard with Ellen. Atleast give them the healthy strong base, that if they do turn to junk when they are older they still have a strong healthy body to fall back on.

Ellen looks amazing and her baby girl is beyond adorable by the way.

She’ll be happy to find out that WFoods does make it’s own version of Cheerios. Sadly, I went that route too with my twins with the pureeing of kabocha squash, zucchini, peaches, etc, myself ;-) Why not expose them to interesting foods now while we’re in charge and give them a good start. I have mellowed out since then and mine are 4 now… and they’ve had Cheerios. Moderation I say!
