mira sorvino 240 Mira Sorvino: I Was Pregnant 3 Times in 5 YearsTo Mira Sorvino, kids and the city are a natural match: In fact, she and children Mattea, 5, Johnny, 3, and Holden, 10 months, live with husband Christopher Backus in the heart of NYC’s Upper West Side, just hop, skip, and a kid’s-sized jump from the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park. She tells the New York Daily News: “I just love the proximity to all the culture — the museums, the theaters, the park.”

As for her city kids, Sorvino, who grew up in New Jersey, says, “My children have wonderful friendships. They take terrific classes. They love their schools. So I’m not seeing any negativity so far. I’m actually seeing positive. They’re getting exposed to wonderful activities. They love the Children’s Museum, they love the American Museum of Natural History. And we walk everywhere, so it’s actually pretty healthy.”

Expect to see more of Sorvino in the near future. Her next movie, Multiple Sarcasms (co-starring dad Timothy Hutton) hits theaters this Friday. These days, “I’m very judicious when it comes to how much time I’ll spend working, because I don’t want to deprive my kids of my company and I don’t want to have someone else raise them,” she says. “I was pregnant three times in five years, so that took me out of contention for a while over these past years. So the fact that I now have about five movies in the can, it’s somewhat of a miracle.”
