More Lindsay Lohan Family Drama – But Who Looks Out for Ali?
Lindsay Lohan’s parents have once again distinguished themselves with their uh…unusual parenting style. This week brought us Michael Lohan, showing up at Lindsay’s apartment with cops in tow in order to check on the welfare of Lindsay’s younger sister, Ali Lohan, 16, who was hanging out in Lindsey’s apartment. You know, because bringing the police along with you is the best way to start a conversation with your teenage daughter. Lindsey let the cops in, they interviewed her and Ali, determined nothing was wrong, and went home. Much tweeting ensued, with Lindsey referring to her father as her “ex-dad” and alleging that his brain has been friend by drug use. Now Dina Lohan has jumped in the fray, calling Lindsay “absolutely, 100% not a bad influence.”
OK, I buy that only if we are going with the ‘cautionary tale’ theory of influence. As in, ‘I have watched my sister squander her talent and become such a babbling, incoherent train wreck that I am running off to join a nunnery.’
But that doesn’t seem to be happening here. In fact, the real question in all of this ought to be, what must all this crazy public bickering do to 16-year-old Ali and younger brother Cody Lohan, who is only 14?
At this point, media stunts under the guise of good parenting are par for the course for both Michael and Dina Lohan, who seem to be unable to go a week without jumping in front of a film crew and talking about how great Lindsey is, or how messed up she is, or how they’re trying to help her, or how she doesn’t need any help. Its exhausting really. But Lindsey Lohan is an adult, whether she acts like one or not. (And judging by her behavior, I’m going with ‘not’.) It’s unfortunate as far as Lindsey is concerned, but not alarming.
But there are real children here. Michael and Dina Lohan–and Lindsay too–would do well to remember that.
