Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva Split, Vow to Raise Daughter Together
According to multiple sources, Mel Gilbson and girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva are no longer an item. The couple had been together for abut a year, and have one child together, daughter Lucia, who was born last November.
Why the split? According to People, the couple just drifted apart, as they try to balance the usual–careers, distance, travel, etc. But Showbiz Spy is singing a different tune, claiming that Gibson left Grigorieva after she accused him of being indfferent toward their daughter.
Sounds like the indifference wasn’t just limited to his daughter. Gibson was also somewhat dismissive of Grigorieva and their future together. “She’d make anyone a wonderful wife, but for the moment, she’s a mother,” Gibson said. In other words: No way am I ever marrying her.
While People claims that Gibson will be sharing the parenting duties, if his past statements on his role are any guide, I wouldn’t count on it. When asked by Jay Leno last fall what was different this time for the eight-time dad, Gibson responded “There’s shortcuts, I guess. Earplugs, you know!” He then fessed up that his role as a dad was pretty limited. “I will be honest, I would say that her mother does the lion’s share of that work, but you know, I support her.”
Remember when Mel Gibson was a respectable, well-liked Hollywood star? Yeah, neither do I.
