Jon Gosselin’s Custody Bid: Is It All About Money?
Could it be that Jon Gosselin’s concern isn’t really that Kate Gosselin is an “absentee mother” but rather having custody of the children would benefit him financially? As it is, Jon pays Kate $22,000 per month but is seeking a primary custody where Kate would pay him. Sounds suspiciously to me like this is more about money than the welfare of the children. Because reports indicate Jon is going dead broke.
While he still has some money left, his income prospects are bleak, according to sources.
Meanwhile, Kate’s present and future earnings are bright: she is making $200,000 for appearing on Dancing With the Stars and has a new reality show lined up with TLC.
“Nobody paying any real money wants Jon to star in a TV show,” the source said. “Kate is perceived as the far more interesting person and Jon is left with no career.”
“His cash is disappearing quickly,” the source said. “He doesn’t want to pay Kate any more and doesn’t feel that he can afford to. Now he’s going after her and it looks like things are going to get ugly.”
As previously reported, Jon lives in a $5,000 a month pad in New York City. Gee, I bet you can rent some really nice digs for at least one-fifth that cost in rural Pennsylvania and be near your kids!
Prediction: Jon doesn’t get custody but does manage at some point to renegotiate his monthly support payment, which was probably based on the assumption he might actually make money. Of course, with the anticipated legal wrangling, he’ll grow increasingly more cash poor in the process.

Roots Digger commented on Apr 09 10 at 4:08 pmNo, Mama Bear, this is for real. His new lawyer was on Nancy Grace’s TV show and confirmed that he and Jon had already gone to court to sue for custody. He’s pissed because Kate is making $200,000 on DWTS and has her own reality show lined up and nobody wants him for anything. He was some sort of computer tech so why doesn’t he get a job? He pays $5,000 a month rent for his New York apartment.
