But don’t start the bump watch just yet. According to ShowbizSpy, the singer/star of The Price of Beauty wants to have kids by 40. “By ten years I would love to be a mom, I would love just to be in love and be a mom,” she said. Simpson is currently 29.

Her comments reflect a refreshingly mature take on the subject. It means she has set a realistic time line for herself, understanding that the process of meeting someone, falling in love, and starting a family doesn’t exactly happen overnight. Her wording is also pretty revealing. Unlike Fox and others who talk about ‘wanting kids’, Simpson says she wants to ‘be a mom’, acknowledging that the trasformation is in who she will become, not what she will have.

In other words, our girl has done a lot of growing up these past few years.

You don’t really see young male stars getting out and assuring the pubic that they want to be dads someday. For a woman whose entire romantic life has played out in front of the cameras, it may be that Simpson doesn’t view this part of her life as particularly private. But what about the others? When did it become de rigeur to announce in your twenties that kids are in your future?
