Kevin Bacon on Debating His Teenage Daughter
Father of two Kevin Bacon (he’s 51 — an you believe it?!) opened up about negotiating rules with his 18-year-old daughter Sosie. Bacon and wife of 21 years Kyra Segwick are also parents to 20-year-old Travis. Bacon, who recently starred in Taking Chance, says he’s strict when necessary and the disciplinarian in the family. But that’s not to say his daughter doesn’t sometimes win the debate, especially as she’s gotten older.
“With my daughter I would say she usually wins [the debates], especially in the last few years … When they are really little you can sort of play it off, but when they turn into teenagers you start to give them the heads up about their opinions and talk about things with them. But in the end she usually wins.”
One subject of debate that is close to his heart — curfews.
“We just spoke about curfews tonight, and she said to me, ‘Do I have a curfew?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, I think you do!’ And she said, ‘I don’t think so. I haven’t had a curfew for years.’ So we had a debate about it, and I won.”
And who wins when Bacon debates his wife? Usually her. Well, that explains their long, happy marriage!
