And that’s especially true where celebrities are concerned. Bethenny Frankel is expecting in June, but don’t expect her to tie the knot before the baby arrives.  She hasn’t revealed exactly when she’ll marry fiance Jason Hoppy, but has said: “[It's] soon, but not as soon” as her due date.

Frankel is certainly not alone. A lot of celebrity moms have the baby (or babies) first and then marry the father later. Examples?

Katie Holmes made it official with Tom Cruise on November 18, 2006, exactly seven months after Suri was born.

Madonna married Guy Ritchie in December 2000 when son Rocco was four months old.

Julianne Moore married Bart Freundlich in August 2003 after their two children Caleb, 12, and Liv, who will be eight next month, were born.  Liv was about 1-1/2 at the time.

Katie Price married Peter Andre in 2005, three months after she gave birth to their older child, Junior Andre.  Of course, that didn’t work out so well…

And if Nicole Richie’s wedding to Joel Madden goes off (and there’s no reason to think it won’t), add her to the list too as she already has two children with Madden, Harlow, 2, and Sparrow, six months.

Of course a lot of long-term celebrity couples who are parents never marry at all. Or at least haven’t yet. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins (okay, it’s over now, but it lasted more than 20 years!).
