allen iverson 275x300 Allen Iverson Leaves Team For Daughters HealthI’m not sure if you heard or not, but Allen Iverson took an indefinite leave of absence from his team the Philadelphia 76′ers.

Why should you care?

You should care because he took the leave so he could be closer to his daughter, 4-year-old Messiah, while she fights her illness.

We don’t know what she has or what the prognosis is, and it shouldn’t matter. As parents our hearts should go out to another parent with a seriously ill child.

A statement from the team had this to say:

Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson will not be with the team for the remaining three games of the current road trip and is out indefinitely for personal reasons related to an illness being suffered by one of his children.

“At this time, we feel that it is in the best interest of the Sixers, Allen and his family that he be allowed to deal with a very serious issue that is far greater than the game of basketball,” said President and General Manager Ed Stefanski of the Sixers.

We hope Messiah gets better quickly and we’re happy that Allen can afford to take this time off to be with his daughter.
