The Marriage Ref – Jerry Seinfeld Star Studded Return To TV
We are Babble are soooo setting our Tivos for this one. NBC welcomes the triumphant return of the one and only Jerry Seinfeld to their lineup. His greatly anticipated show – The Marriage Ref – starts right after the Olympics with regular Thursday airings beginning March 5th.
Now, anyone who has been in a long-term relationship could totally get with this concept. At some point wouldn’t it have been nice to have been able to enlist a referee? An impartial party to judge who is right and who is wrong…and sometimes very very wrong. But how about if the impartial judge/s happen to be famous? Let’s say… Jerry Seinfeld, host Tom Papa and guest “experts” such as Kelly Ripa and Alec Baldwin opt to wax poetic with opinions about your marriage’s trouble and turmoil? Perhaps Alex Baldwin isn’t the first person you’d really go to for some relationship advice, but hey beggars can’t be choosers now can they? In the first episode a lucky couple will have the before mentioned celebrities weigh in on their issues with the “Ref” aka Papa picking a winner or loser.
Seinfeld himself has found that marriage is great comedic fodder. “After 10 years of marriage, I realized the comedic potential of this topic is quite rich. This is the way marriage should be; everybody needs a ref,” said Seinfeld. “I wanted to bring the sports simplicity to your complicated, endlessly difficult personal life.”
Upcoming guest stars include Tina Fey, Eva Longoria, Ricky Gervais, Martin Short, Sarah Silverman, Larry David, Matt Lauer, Matthew Broderick, Cedric the Entertainer and the one and only Madonna!
The Marriage Ref starts March 4th with a sneak preview airing on February 28th.
