picture 9 300x230 Susan Sarandon On The Circle Of LifeIn an interview promoting The Lovely Bones, Susan Sarandon shares her thoughts about mortality as a mother. The 63-year-old actress talks about facing the circle of life when thinking about her three children.

Her daughter Eva is her child from a previous relationship and Jack Henry, 20, and Miles Guthrie, 17, are her kids with Tim Robbins.

“When you have kids everyone talks about how much you appreciate life but what they don’t tell you is that the second you have a child you think about death,” she said. “I never thought about my mortality — or anybody else’s — until I had children, and I had my kids really late.”

She has learned to let her kiddies grow up and leave the nest.

“You have to trust in the universe,” she added, “give them as much love as possible and put a light around them and send them out because you also can’t protect them. That’s the other thing this movie says.”

I remember seeing Susan at a theater while she pregnant with her youngest son! How time flies. That was 17 years ago and yes, it does make me think of my own mortality!
