Prince Charles Wants Kids To Eat “Real Food”
Although his own (oh so adorable) two sons are all grown up, Prince Charles is still concerned with making sure children learn to eat healthy. The Prince and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, recently pitched in to help kids bake during a primary school cooking class.
The royal couple showed up to help students at St George’s School as a show of support for the new ‘Chefs Adopt a School’ program. The initiative is designed to help educate children about ‘real foods’ and teach them where ingredients come from.
Charles and Camilla weren’t content to stand back and offer a simple royal seal of approval. They got their hands dirty right along side of the kids, rolling dough, baking, and tasting lemons as part of a lesson on how the palate works – although something tells me they both had a pretty good idea of what a lemon tasted like before the session.
Prince Charles has been a long time advocate of organic farming and natural food sources. His own Cotswold estate is organically farmed and he has spoken out in the past about the dangers of genetically modified foods.
Passing on this message to the next generation is a cause that seems close to the monarch’s heart. Prince Charles noted that it was absolutely crucial to “find a way to reconnect young people” with what they eat.
I wonder what it would take to get a little of that “real food” education here in the good ol’ US of A?
