They’re Just Like Us: Jennifer Garner Worries About Gaining Weight
This week, Jennifer Garner fessed up to a fear almost every mom can relate to –gaining weight after losing it. We love her for that.
It’s so refreshing when a celebrity mom tells it like it is as Jen did when she revealed her anxiety about gaining weight after she stops breastfeeding her 13 month old daughter Seraphina.
“I’m nursing. As soon as I’m done, I’ll puff right back up.”
First of all, props to Jen for nursing for such a long time — as any mom of more than one can tell you, breastfeeding can take its toll on the whole family. When a toddler (like Seraphina’s older sister Violet) wants mom’s attention, they don’t care if their little sister is having a meal — and this can make it really hard to be the only milk in town!
Second, THANK YOU JEN for not being one of those moms who pops out a baby one day and hits the catwalk the next. While we know it wasn’t effortless for Heidi or Giselle to get back into their skinny jeans, their very public shrinking act does make it hard for the rest of us mere mortals still hoping to squeeze into our fat pants.
Third, we just have to mention that Jen is one of the lucky few to lose or maintain weight (as did Rebecca Romijn drop 60 lbs after her twins!) from breastfeeding. Despite this common belief that nursing makes your baby fat melt, it’s actually more common to LOSE, not gain weight after you stop.
