Obamas Serve Lunch to Poor to Honor Martin Luther King, Jr.
President Barack Obama and his family served hot lunches to the needy on Monday, one of several ways the president paid tribute to slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. And it was definitely a family affair.
All of the Obamas helped out — Michelle Obama poured hot coffee to the diners while 8-year-old Sasha helped out by passing out packets of sweetener and Malia, 11, walked among the rows of diners and talked with them and shook hands. The president’s mother, Marian Robinson, was even there walking around and serving danishes from a baking sheet.
It’s great to see our First Family in action, especially how much the kids are involved. A fitting way to honor Martin Luther King, Jr.
