Sylvester Stallone Breaks Neck On Set
Sylvester Stallone’s neck snapped like a stick of celery while filming of a fight scene with Steve Austin on the set of his latest movie The Expendables. But hold the phone everybody — he’s going to be OK.
The famous tough guy is no stranger to exceptionally realistic action sequences, but this is probably the first one that resulted in a major surgery.
In a recent interview with FHM, Sly tells the story of the stunt that went horribly wrong. According to Stallone, the fight scene was:
“So vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I’m not joking. I haven’t told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck.”
Sure, we can chuckle about it now that we know there’s no serious harm done, but geez… that’s some real life tough guy action. I thought Steve Austin would know how to play fight. After all, he’s made a whole career out of it.
I bet Sly’s family was completely freaked out when the found out that he was in surgery with a broken neck. How scary is that? It’s not often that you get to use a broken neck story to promote an upcoming film.
