Alexis Ray Joel Speaks Out On Heartbreak-Related Depression
They say every cloud has a silver lining. Although sometimes finding that happy shiny spec inside a sad depressing storm can be hard, it looks like Alexis Ray Joel has found it. The daughter of Christy Brinkley and Billy Joel will turn her tragic time into a quest to help others. Last month, Alexa Ray attempted suicide by an overdose of pills. She had been going through a ‘crippling depression’ and now would like to assist other young women going through the same thing. She stated that she want to “help young girls with something I know a GREAT deal about: Heartbreak-Related Depression. Although it does not get much attention in our society, it is a very serious and painful condition that often gets swept under the carpet. I hope to bring this topic more to light.”
Plus she’ll be going back to school to study psychology. Let’s hope this helps her heal and she’ll be able shed some much needed light on others who are going through the same thing.

Andy is 25 years old, was always happy and no signs up depression. He totally expected to marry this girl and could not deal with it. It’s been a long haul, but we all got through it. He is doing great now, but what a shock to myself and his two sisters. I have worked with “at risk” teens for over 20 years and it’s a whole differen ball game when it’s your son. He was stuck in this black hole that I couldn’t pull him out of. He was hospitalized 3 times (in-patient 2x’s) then outpatient. Finally he saw the light and accepted the help. God I am so glad to have him back.
