Roy Disney Dies
Roy E. Disney has died today at the age of 79. Mr. Disney died in a California hospital after a yearlong battle with stomach cancer.
Disney was the son of Roy O. Disney who co-founded the family business with Walt Disney.
Roy Disney is credited with the revitalization of Disney due to his overseeing of such classics as The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. His impact has touched nearly all of us and will continue to do so.
Said John Lasseter of Disney/Pixar, “”He put his heart and soul into preserving Disney’s legendary past, while helping to move the art of animation into the modern age by embracing new technology.”
Roy Disney is survived by his ex-wife of 52 years Patricia Dailey and his wife Leslie DeMeuse-Disney. His four children, Abigail, Susan, Roy P. and Timothy, are all grown. He had 16 grandchildren.
And a lot of mouseketeers.
Our thoughts to the Disney family.
