What!?!
Yep, you heard me. Victoria, because she has experience with this kind of situation, is being recommended as an advisor.

Maybe she’s supposed to talk to her about how to deal with the media. David Beckham was only supposedly linked to one girl. Tiger has been linked to 15 women. There is a little difference.

Would you take Tiger back? There isn’t really any reason to. She’s young, beautiful, she’ll have enough money for the rest of her life, plus the child support payments will continue for so long.

[...] That’s not much of a statement, but it’s all we’ve got. At least until she talks to Victoria. [...]

Wow. Yeah, I guess if you totally disregard the two very young children involved and the life they can expect growing up in a divorced home, then sure there “isn’t really any reason to.” Marriage is just that disposable, huh? Awesome.

Of course marriage isn’t that disposable, but when you have a man that has 15 or more mistresses what kind of example are you setting for your children. You would allow yourself to have no respect, show your daughter that you don’t have to have respect yourself. Show your son that it’s okay to treat women the way his dad does because they’ll stay.

That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. He cheated not just once but hundreds of times. Where is the love for your children there? You wouldn’t want them to grow up in a home where marriage isn’t a sacred thing.

I agree, you don’t want to raise children in a home where marriage is a complete farce. However, it’s far too early to tell yet if this particular marriage can be salvaged. Sure, the extremely egregious nature of Tiger’s cheating (though all infidelity is, by nature, egregious) is a HUGE obstacle to overcome, and the threat posed by any “relapse” is significant. But if his wife can approach this situation with firm boundaries – both personal and for marital recovery – then she has not only the opportunity to attempt reconciliation and keep the nuclear family together (in an improved relationship, certainly), but she also sets the example of fighting for her marriage (if she so chooses) in a manner that preserves her self-respect and dignity.. and that maintains her ability to end the marriage should Tiger cross any of her boundaries.

Right now, it is far too early to tell. Advocating one way or the other presumes we know exactly what we’re talking about and what we would do in her position…and I don’t think this is something anyone knows exactly what they’re talking about or what they would do unless it happened to them. He has given her a “get out of marriage free” card, so to speak – it’s her decision to use it or not. I think she can pursue marital recovery OR divorce, and the message to the kids will be the same if she goes about it with clear boundaries and care for her family.
