The soccer star is an ambassador for UNICEF. He is also in South Africa for the World Cup draw.

When he first arrived in the country, he found out by phone call about his grandfather’s passing. On his decision to stay he said:

“If I had decided to go back home I know what he would have said to me, which I can’t repeat,” Becks explains. “Grandad would have shouted at me for leaving this because he was passionate about his country. He fought for his country and I know how proud he was of me.”
