Meredith Baxter’s TV Husband Is “Thrilled” Her Secret Is Out
Meredith Baxter, best known as Elyse Keaton on Family Ties, is officially out of the closet, and her TV husband Michael Gross is out loud and proud with his support of her openness about being a lesbian.
Gross and his wife have known for four years that Baxter is a lesbian, and he counts his former on-air wife as one of his closest friends.
“She’s one of my favorite people in the world, and I’m just thrilled that it’s no longer a secret, and that’s about the size of it,” Michael says.
He’s also relieved to no longer be the secret keeper. “I’m just thrilled this has happened because now my wife and I don’t have to hide this from everybody we know. Occasionally people will say to us, ‘Hey, Michael, you still see your costar? How’s she doing? Is there a man in her life?’”
Michale and his wife are also fans of Meredith’s partner, Nancy Locke. “It seems to be a seamless melding of individuals and families. Meredith’s children are very accepting of this and I myself have met Meredith’s partner on numerous occasions,” he says. “I’ve traveled with them. She’s just a first-rate individual – and I like her a lot. My wife does, as well.”
Meredith has been living “out” with her girlfriend in Los Angeles for sometime, but she just recently went public with the news. Gross, obviously, was not surprised by the recent announcement. “As far as I’m concerned it was pretty old news.”
Hey Michael, know about any other celebrity secrets that might be “old news”? Call me. I promise I’ll be discreet!
