Tobey Maguire Had To Think About Kids Before Taking On Spider-Man 4
Tobey Maguire says that he had to think about his children before deciding whether or not to take on Spider-Man 4.
“It’s not that I was reluctant,” Maguire says about the ongoing superhero role. “For me, it’s a big process to decide whether or not to do a role…I have to want to wake up in the morning and feel like I can’t wait to get to work. I’ve got to feel OK about leaving my kids for 12 or 13 hours a day for five months. It’s a big commitment.”
Tobey is currently starring in the new movie Brothers, and he admits that the intense subject matter and long hours took a toll on both he and his wife Jennifer Meyer Maguire.
“It’s always challenging; It does create tension,” the 34 year old father of two says. “But my wife, she understands, and we both do the best we can to get through those experiences.”
Tobey and Jennifer have a 3 year old daughter and 6 1/2 month old son at home, which can certainly be a lot to juggle when one parent is working long hours. Hopefully the family get some quality downtime together between projects!
