Alison Sweeney Says Charity Helps Her Family Keep Things In Perspective

alison sweeney 0901 207x300 Alison Sweeney Says Charity Helps Her Family Keep Things In PerspectiveTV star Alison Sweeney is making giving back a priority in her life and her children’s.  She’s hoping it will help her kids deal with having a celebrity mom.

Alison hosted a Winter Wonderland event in her home recently for Feeding America, and took some time to talk about why working with charities is so important to her and her family.

“It certainly helps me keep my problems in perspective. I want that same clarity for my children.”

Alison has two children, Benjamin Edward, 4 ½, and Megan Hope, 10 months, and she’s looking forward to teaching them about giving back to their communities. “I look forward to volunteering at a food bank on Thanksgiving, and I plan to introduce my children to the idea of giving back as soon as they’re ready,” Sweeney says.

While the kids might not be old enough to work a shift at a soup kitchen just yet, Alison and her husband David Sanov have already started to show their children the importance of a charitable attitude. “Both of our dogs come from shelters, and we explained to Ben how we wanted to take care of them and welcome them into our family.”

Alison believes that getting her kids involved with charity work as they get older can help them deal with her fame. “Being aware of the advantages you have and helping your children understand their good fortune is probably half the battle. Also, setting a good example. Making sure you, as parents, are being good role models is key.”

Sounds like both kids have a good shot at staying grounded despite their Los Angeles address.
