Shaq And Shaunie Are Headed For Divorce Court
After 7+ years of marriage, TMZ reports that Shaunie O’Neal filed for legal separation from Shaq in Los Angeles County Court yesterday — even though the couple lives in Florida. Bummer. The couple has 4 minor children together and Shaunie has apparently filed for legal and physical custody of all 4.
Reportedly, Shaunie pulled the kids out of school in Florida last week sometime and took them with her to California.
Wow, sad day for the O’Neal family. For some reason, I always got the impression that Shaq’s family life was happy and harmonious — unlike many high-profile families.
So far, there’s no word on what exactly made Shaunie decide to call it quits. The reason listed on the court documents is the infamous “irreconcilable differences.”
Also of interest, Shaunie claims to be an LA resident since November 8, 2009, a whole day before filing for separation.
The consensus from Team Shaq is that Shaunie is after Shaq’s considerable bankroll, hence the filing for separation in LA, where awards for spousal support are generally greater than in Florida.

His wife filing for divorce in Los Angeles County really sounds unusual for someone living in Miami.
