John Allen Muhammad Executed

John Allen Muhammad, the Beltway Sniper, was executed tonight.  Muhammed, who was born John Allen Williams, was killed by lethal injection at the Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia.

Muhammad killed at least ten people in 2002 with the help of then 17-year-old Lee Boyd Malvo.  The younger man claimed that the mass murder was part of an Islamic jihad, whereas his ex-wife, Mildred Muhammad, claims that it was all an elaborate scheme by Muhammad to kill her in hopes of obtaining custody of their three children John,  Salena and Taalibah, who were aged 12, 10 and 9 at the time, respectively.

Muhammad reportedly denied his right to give a last statement prior to his death.
