Sarah Jessica Parker Joins White House Committee.
Sarah Jessica Parker is heading to Washington DC and will become an official member of an official White House committee.
No. Really.
Vice President Joe Biden is going to install her and everything.
Sarah Jessica Parker, who just brought home twins in June, has been invited by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. And she’s not the only Hollywood local who will be doing their part for their country. Other committee members include Forest Whitaker, Edward Norton, and Alfre Woodard. They’ll be joined by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Vogue editor Anna Wintour and philanthropist Teresa Heinz, wife of Sen. John Kerry.
What will Sarah Jessica Parker and her colleagues be doing on this new committee?
The committee’s web site explains that it “focuses on arts and humanities education, cultural diplomacy, economic revitalization through the arts and humanities and special events dedicated to recognizing excellence in these areas.”
So there’s that.

Sarah Jessica Parker was invited to participate, I assume, based on her success in television, movies and live theater. She also serves on the board of the New York City Ballet and is a UNICEF Representative for the Performing Arts. I can’t imagine it hurts that she brings name recognition and star power with her to the White House as well.
My biggest question upon hearing about Parker’s appointment is – when in the world does the woman find time to sleep?
