Mother and grandmother (oh, and actress, director and producer) Penny Marshall has reportedly been diagnosed with  brain tumors.

According to the National Enquirer, Penny Marshall underwent brain surgery at a New York hospital on October 30th.  The Enquirer reports that Marshall flew to New York to see the Yankees in the playoffs but got very sick during her flight.  She visited a New York doctor and was told that she had tumors on both her brain and her liver.

While many of us think of Penny Marshall as Laverne DeFazio from Laverne & Shirley and successful director of movies like A League of Their Own,  the 66 year old woman is  also a mother and grandmother.  Our hearts go out to her daughter, actress Tracy Reiner, and her entire family.

If the rumors are true, we’re wishing Penny a speedy recovery.  (But we’re still keeping our fingers crossed for a denial from her camp.)
