Madonna Will Meet With Mercy’s Biological Father

Remember when Mercy James’ dead-beat dad crawled out from whatever rock he was hiding under to opposed Madonna adoption? Now, months after the courts ruled in the Queen of Pop’s favor, Mercy’s dad and Madonna are going to have a chance to meet face-to-face.

Apparently, while Madge is in Malawi this week establishing a $15M school for girls, she’ll take a side trip to meet with James Kambewa — the man that abandon Mercy’s mom. From Us:

“Madonna wants to meet Mr. Kambewa because she does not want to deny Mercy her background,” a source tells Us. “Madonna wants to assure Mr. Kambewa that Mercy will not be delinked from her roots.”

While I think it’s cool that Madonna want to keep Mercy connected to her roots, I don’t see why she feels that it’s necessary to assure Kambewa of anything. He gave up his paternal rights.

As you might expect, Mercy’s other relatives feel pretty much the same way. Says her uncle, Peter Baneti:

“We do not recognize Kambewa as Mercy’s father… He just came out of the woodwork to claim paternity while he was not there when my sister was pregnant.”
