It was Amy Mickelson’s first appearance at a tournament since she was diagnosed with breast cancer over the summer.

Mickelson was reportedly greeted by his wife at the team hotel after he returned from playing in Saturday’s matches. Amy is said to be responding well to her cancer treatments.

What a great surprise this must have been for Phil – I wonder if their kids Amanda, 10, Sophia, 8, Evan, 6, were behind it? After all, Amanda has worked as a caddie for her dad before.

The President’s Cup is a team competition that pits the best U.S. golfers against top competitors from around the world. This year the team has a familiar face serving as assistant to the head coach of the team.
