Matthew Takes Daughter Out For A Stroll In A Manly Mei Tai (Photos)

Do they make hands-free carriers for two? If Matthew was more technically-inclined,  maybe he could engineer a contraption to carry Marion in front and Tabitha in back.

All kidding aside,  I have to say that I think its cool that Matthew’s so comfortable with baby accessories. Generally, most baby carriers don’t come off as a very manly fashion statement, but Broderick’s not worried about a group of construction workers heckling him as he walks by.

Seriously, it shouldn’t be an issue, but it kinda is. Why does carrying a baby around in a mei tai seem somehow emasculating? It’s not at all. That’s messed up.

I guess Matthew left the other daughter at home with the nanny while SJP is back at work filming Sex and the City 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Not that this makes any difference to the piece, but I’m pretty sure that’s a Baby Bjorn, not a mei tai.

That’s not a mei tai, it’s a frontpack. (I hope he DOES have a manly mei tai — they do exist! — or buckle carrier, because frontpacks, besides being far dorkier-looking, get pretty darn uncomfortable by the time the baby hits 10 or 12 pounds.) And yes, you can wear two babies at the same time, using existing carriers — no need for special engineering! For one in front and the other on the back you’d usually wear two mei tais, or a long woven wrap. As for “emasculating” — honey, there ain’t nothing sexier than a man wearing a baby while cooking dinner or vacuuming. ;)

Yeah, that’s a Baby Bjorn. You can read it on there if you view the larger size of the picture. Those things look so uncomfortable! Ugh.

My husband uses the Mei Tai a friend made for us. It’s dark gray with a subtle pattern on the front…maybe not “manly” but definately sedate.

I think it’s great that he wants to try out things other than the traditional stroller. As far as what people think, Matthew is his own person who has never conformed to what everyone thinks he should be. He’s secure in himself and is a hands on father. That’s the only thing that counts.
