Olympic Swimmer Todd Pearson Says Goodbye To Son, Hundreds Mourn
Australian Olympic swimmer Todd Pearson and his wife Alisa had to say goodbye to their 22-month-old son Zac. Their sweet boy died suddenly in his sleep on September 24. He was dubbed “Daddy’s little wingman.” Heartbreaking.
Hundreds gathered to mourn the toddler, who was just 2 months shy of his second birthday, at the funeral at Karrakatta Cemetery.

The emotional congregation made the sad procession to the cemetery’s chapel, walking behind the hearse carrying Zac’s tiny white coffin. Atop the casket sat Sesame Street’s Elmo, surrounded by a simple wreath of flowers.
Princess Margaret Hospital for Children chaplain Gail Falconer reflected on Zac’s life and the despair of his loved ones at his untimely death.
“We hold before you and each other the hopes and dreams held for him, as we thank you for the gift of his short life.
“Words cannot express all that we feel at this time. Be with us as we give expression to the pain of grief shared, for this family’s love for each other and Zac as we say goodbye.”
At the end of the service, 22 balloons — one for each month of Zac’s life — were released by the family, signifying their separation from Zac and the freeing of his spirit.
The Pearson family requested that donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Zac be made to SIDS and Kids WA, who have helped them deal with the tragedy.
