David Letterman – A Victim Of Extortion?
David Letterman shocked his studio guests today on the set of his show. He told them that he did something that he never thought he would have to do; he testified before a Grand Jury.
What on earth is going on with him?
He said that someone contacted him three weeks ago saying they had information of his sexual escapades with female employees of the show. The person then said that they would reveal all of this info to the public if he didn’t pay them off.
Someone tried to extort David Letterman? What is this world coming to?
Letterman admitted to the relationships, but said that his main concern was protecting the people on his staff and his family. He went along with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office’s Special Prosecution Bureau, who conducted an investigation. Eventually, they paid the individual with a fake $2 million check, which resulted in an arrest Thursday.
I’m guessing he would be embarrassed if this was released to the public, but good for him. He grabbed the bull by the horns and dealt with it.
Just one question. Were the relationships before or after the baby/marriage?
UPDATE— Robert Halderman, a producer for CBS, has been arrested for extorting Letterman. Radar reports he lived with the woman who Letterman was involved with. The affair happened before his son was born but Letterman was living with his wife-to-be at the time.
