Gena said, “It was really hard with the first one because I didn’t see it coming, I couldn’t figure out why I was so sad when I had this beautiful, healthy baby and a great job. Baywatch was the No. 1 show in the world at that time. I had nothing to be upset about. I thought I was nuts.”

“Going into the second pregnancy, I didn’t think the PPD would be as bad — I was euphoric. But it was my worst case. I didn’t want to get out of bed, and I would cry with no idea what I was crying about. I was put on meds immediately.”

Postpartum depression is such a tough thing to go through. I think that as more high profile women come out and say they suffered from it the easier it will be on the rest of us. It becomes a more acceptable thing and husbands/boyfriends/lovers will be more understanding.
