John Travolta Admits Autism In Extortion Case
John Travolta is having a rough week, at least I think it has to be pretty rough. You may know he and his wife are in the Bahamas testifying in a case against his would be extortioners.
He’s had to do a couple of things that would be emotionally exhausting. He had to relive the day of his son’s death and he also had to make a statement that he never wanted to.
He had to admit that Jett was autistic.
My heart goes out to the family. It has to be so hard to have to go and admit something that you wanted to deny for years. I’m not here to cast judgment. They are the parents that have to live with the question of whether the treatments for autism could have saved his life. That’s something that is hard enough to come to terms with, they don’t need the extra noise from every body else.

John Travolta Still a Devout Scientologist, Darn | Famecrawler commented on Oct 05 09 at 2:00 pmBet the Scientology church is freaking out over this since they dont believe in that diagnosis and the Travoltas are long time members. Jett died from a seizure disorder, not autism. Treatment for autism migh thave made his short life easier but would not have saved his life.
Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for autistic children to develop seizures, which can be controlled with medication. It’s something that has to be monitored, but you also have to have a diagnosis. I don’t know if that had been his first seizure, though.
If it is because of their religious beliefs they chose not to pursue autism treatment, then I can only hope that those same beliefs give them the strength and comfort they need.
There’s nothing about this story that doesn’t make me terribly sad.
