Maggie Gyllenhaal Wants To Trade Lives With Me

maggie gyllenhaal 1 Maggie Gyllenhaal Wants To Trade Lives With MeMaggie Gyllenhaal has hopes and dream just like the rest of us. However, since she’s already achieved fame and fortune, her dreams run to the domestic side.

She early just wants to stay home with her darling daughter Ramona. That’s it, that’s her dream.

She shared where she was coming from with Working Mothers and had this to say: “Growing up in Los Angeles, I was surrounded by plenty of working moms, including my grandmother, a pediatrician, and my mother, a writer and producer. This seemed very natural to me. I just thought, Well, that’s what moms do. They work and raise their kids. I was brought up to believe I could do anything I wanted professionally and, of course, be a mother at the same time—but I’m finding that it’s complicated. It requires a lot of thought and planning, and I haven’t figured it out yet.”

Ooh, sounds like the rest of us.

She goes on to say, “Now that I have my own daughter, there are definitely times I think, ‘Why do I have a job?’ Sometimes I fantasize about staying home with Ramona all day, so that I don’t miss a thing in this amazing 2-year-old’s life.”
Then she remembers  the things her mother and grandmother did for her. “I want to give my daughter the same gift that my mom and my grandmother gave to me, which is the knowledge that, as a woman, I can do anything professionally and personally. I have everything open to me. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. I continue to make lots of sacrifices to make sure my daughter feels comfortable, or at least as comfortable as she can. But I can’t and don’t pretend I have it down.”

Maybe she wants to trade lives with me.

Comments So the only way to give your child the “gift” of knowing they can do anything they want professionally and personally is by working? If you really want to stay home but you are working you are already saying you cannot do everything you want professionally or personally. As long as you are living the life you want to live whether working or not you are showing your child you can do anything you want. That was such a weird comment but you hear woman say it a lot.
