Jessica Simpson: “Why Would I Stop Searching? I’m A Mom”
Earlier this week, Jessica Simpson announced that her Maltipoo “Daisy” had been carried off by coyotes and that she was reaching out via Twitter to help locate the dog. Now, after a bunch of backhanded sympathy (mixed with a healthy dose of mockery), Jessica is defending her decision to keep hope alive — despite the advice of Martha Stewart.
From Jessica’s Twitter Page:
“Still holding out hope despite the a–holes that say is it a dumb thing to do. Daisy is my baby … why would I stop searching? I’m a mom.”
It’s quotes like that one that make me wonder if Jessica Simpson might be a little deluded about this whole incident. Coyotes don’t take Matlipoos to the animal shelter.
It’s fine to say you’re the proud mother of your pouch in some circumstances, but launching into a kind of Amber Alert style crusade over a dog that was taken by coyotes… well, that’s a horse of a different color. And it’s not just “a-holes” like me that think so.
Martha Stewart has also lost a dog to coyotes recently and she gave Jessica this piece of advice:
“Get another dog. I think it’s very important to get another dog, someone else to love. You just have to find the dog that’s the right match for you.”
It’s actually kinda comical watching the rest of the celeb world try to tell Jessica: ‘hey, your dog is gone forever,’ and not seem like uncaring a-holes. Sure, in some ways, dog are like children, but unlike children — they can be replaced by another dog that you can come to love rather quickly.
Is this whole incident in some ways tied to the fact that Jessica really wants babies? The irony of ironies here is that the man who Jessica might have started a family with, Tony Romo, was also the one who gave her Daisy. Think about what kind of weird post-breakup psychology is going on there.
