Rebecca Romijn’s Not Interested in “Overpopulating This World”
Did Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell recently convert to the church of environmental extremism? No, but they did express the desire to cap their family a 4 and their family’s eco-footprint did factor into their decision.
From a recent interview in E!:
“We feel like the world was made for pairs. Four feels like the perfect number.”
“Also, we’re not interested in overpopulating this world,” she added. ”So we feel like we don’t want to leave more than we are when we leave this planet.”
Rebecca also talked about how hard it is to go back to work with her 8-month-old twins — Dolly and Charlie — at home. She recently began working on a new ABC show called Eastwick, based on the novel The Witches of Eastwick. Says Romijm:
“Mother’s guilt is no joke,” Romijn admits. “I feel like any stretch of time I spend away from them, I’m worried that I’m missing out on just these little miracles. Like you watch them stare at their hand for an hour and they go take a three-hour nap and they wake up and they can do something that they didn’t do before—like wave!”

Voice of Reason commented on Sep 12 09 at 1:09 amHilariously, I misread that and for a brief moment I actually thought Rebecca believed that her babies might wake up with the ability to WEAVE. LOL.
ChiLaura commented on Sep 12 09 at 9:59 amSeriously, does anyone watch their child stare at their hand for an hour? I mean, I love my kids, but I’ve got things to do, like laundry and food prep. (Perhaps hiring someone to do this for you is one of the perks of being a celelbrity, eh?) Plus, watching a baby watch his hand doesn’t sound like a whole lotta fun, you know? This sort of romanticization of parenting makes me role my eyes a little bit. That, or wonder what’s wrong with me. =P
