Sort Of.So is Abbie Cornish’s interview with W Magazine the smoking gun when it comes to the breakup of Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon’s marriage? Am I reading between the lines? Should I stop trying to figure it out and send Abbie and Ryan a housewarming gift already?

Phillippe and Cornish were suspected of beginning their affair while the two were co-starring in the movie Stop-Loss, although they both denied it at the time. But Cornish now admits that when she left Australia to come to the U.S. “it was love that brought me here, not work,” she says. The actress goes on to say, “I think the city feels and looks a little bit different because of that.”

Cornish now lives with Phillippe and spends time with his and Witherspoon’s two children: Ava, 9, and Deacon, 5.

While Witherspoon has called her divorce “humiliating and isolating,” Cornish – whom W sympathetically says was “cast as the culprit” – insists it was “a really difficult time for me.”

Yes, because homewrecking is so exhausting.

[...] The stars are appealing, Bradley Cooper, Robert Dinero, Abbie Cornish (who will forever remain the girl who broke up Reese and Ryan) and an unrecognizable Anna Friel (pushing daisies), but the Chemistry wasn’t all there. [...]

Comments Best thing Reese ever did was to get rid of ryan. Are you proud of yourself ryan??

She moved to the U.S. in 2008, well after the divorce became final. All both Ryan and Abbie have said is that they were friends when the divorce was files. But there was lots of problems with that marriage for many years. Reese didn’t “get rid” of Ryan anymore than he did of her. They share the parenting of their two children. Shit happens.

Amusing to me that when Abbie answers “it was difficult” to a reporter’s question as to how she felt when the tabloids implied she was the reason for Reese and Ryan’s split, Reese’s fans assume she’s admitting to an affair. She could just as easily meant it was difficult to be falsely accused. Ryan and Reese have both publicly admitted that they shared responsibility for their split, that there were cumulative reasons over time. So who should we believe, the parties directly involved or the tabloids? By the way, the tabloids have printed every week that lovey-dovey Reese and Jake are getting engaged. Funny, not only has it been the same rumor for close to two years now, but it’s the only rumor that Jake and Reese’s PR people comment upon by saying “not true.” I guess the tabloids don’t always get it right after all.

I totally do not see how she admitted to anything. Reese fans and butt kissers need to get a life and stop caring about Abbie so much.
