Brooks and Dunn, Done
After two decades of performing together, country music duo Brooks and Dunn are going their separate ways. They announced on their web site Monday that after releasing their album #1s and … and then some in September and doing a 2010 tour, they’ll be calling it quits.
“After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time [to] call it a day,” they said. “This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed. … We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time. ”
Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn stormed onto the country music scene in 1991, when the first four singles from their debut album Brand New Man raced to the top of the country music charts and went on to sell more than 6 million copies, the first of many multi-platinum discs. Among other honors, they’ve won 15 Top Vocal Duo awards from the Academy of Country Music.
As with most parents, no doubt Brooks and Dunn are looking to spend more quality time with their kids; Brooks has two children – Molly and Eric – and Dunn has three – Whitney, Jesse and Haley. Kids, get ready to start fetching the beer!
