Can Mr. & Mrs. Smith Sequel Save Brangelina?
The set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith is supposedly where the Brangelina mojo began. Now, there are rumors of a sequel. Will Mr. & Mrs. Smith Part Deux help Brad and Angie rekindle the infamous magic that broke up Brad and Jen and spawned the era of Brangelina?
For their 6 kids, let’s hope so.
The Enquirer has reported that the superstar duo is that going backwards will somehow help them move forwards. From the article:
“They’re hoping lightning will strike twice and they can re-spark the magnetism that captivated them five years ago,” close family friend told The ENQUIRER.
“It’s no secret that relationship-wise, Brad and Angie are on the ropes. The stress of raising six kids and juggling two red-hot careers is wearing them down.”
“The romantic action film was penned by screenwriter Simon Kinberg. He’s become close friend of the couple, and Brad’s asked him to write the Mr. & Mrs. Smith sequel, said the source.
“This time around the Smiths will have children, and the kids’ antics will be part of the story line,” said the source.
That’s right, to make the movie even more self-referential, the Smiths will have kids this time. I’m guessing probably around six.
Rumor has it that Brad and Angie might try to cast one of their kids (Zahara) into the flick, but that info’s probably about as reliable as the idea that they’re making a sequel at all (there’s no mention of “The Smiths 2″ on IMDB).
Would Mr. & Mrs. Smith II be any good? The first one was pretty much a ridiculous star-powered summer blockbuster with no story. So, part 2 doesn’t have all that much to live up to.
It’d be a mindless, escapist movie where you get to watch beautiful Hollywood people shoot and blow things up… in other words: perfect. I approve.
