What happens is the women get sick and tired of being abused physically, sexually and mentally, especially in front of their children and take the matter into their own hands in a matter of self preservation. She was beaten in front of people that evening and no one came to her aid. If she didn’t kill him what would of happened is he would of killed her, and gotten away with it or taken her son from her.

When someone is in a relationship in which they are abused, their life IS being threatened, and aggressive action back at the abuser IS in self-defense. Physical abuse follows a recognizable pattern in the vast majority of cases – and that pattern shows that it escalates over time, is far worse in private than in public, and often ends in the eventual death of the victim at the hands of the abuser.
