Amanda Rodrigues Gatti: Murderer? (PHOTOS)

After the tragic death of champion boxer Arturo Gatti, his wife, Amanda Rodrigues, was detained by Brazilian authorities on Sunday. Gatti’s body was found in a hotel room at the posh seaside resort of Porto de Galihnas where he was staying with his wife and their infant son. Did Rodrigues murder her husband on a trip that was described as their ‘second honeymoon?’
Rodrigues was taken into custody after inconsistencies in her story, mainly how she spent nearly 10 hours in the room without noticing that Gatti was already dead. Also, authorities say that Gatti was strangled with the strap of a purse, that was found at the scene with blood stains although they are not saying definitively that the purse belonged to Rodrigues.
Here is Rodrigues being led out of a police station in Brazil:

This is what we do know about Rodrigues and her relationship with Gatti: Born Amanda Carina Barbosa Rodrigues, she is a citizen of Brazil and a former makeup artist. The couple’s relationship has been known to be volatile – the two were known to be extremely jealous of each other, and Gatti often criticized Rodrigues for dressing too provocatively. Also, in March of this year Gatti was charged with assaulting Amanda Rodriguez; he failed to appear in court to answer the charges. When he did appear in April, he was released on bail and ordered to be at least 200 meters away from Rodriguez at all times.
Of course, another tragic victim of this whole scenario is the couple’s 10-month-old son, who is now fatherless and, if the murder charge ends up sticking to Gonzales, will be without a mother as well.
