In what will be remembered as one of the highlights of an emotional and moving memorial to Michael Jackson, a pregnant Jennifer Hudson took the stage to sing Jackson’s 1991 single, “Will You Be There.” (See the video below.)

Hudson sang a beautiful, gospel-tinged version of the song, and towards the end of her performance a recording of Jackson’s tearful voice spoke the words:

“In my anguish and my pain

Through my joy and my sorrow

In the promise of another tomorrow

I’ll never let you part

For you’re always in my heart.”

Hudson’s performance was all the more poignant since her mother, brother and nephew were murdered last year. The singer is expecting her first child, with fiancé David Otunga.
