Drea de Matteo Is Getting “Desperate”

Former Sopranos actress Drea de Matteo is getting desperate, as in, she’s joining the cast of Desperate Housewives!

Former Soprano’s star Drea de Matteo is joining the cast of Desperate Housewives, ABC confirms to Usmagazine.com.

The Emmy-winning actress will be a series regular and will play the matriarch of an Italian family who just moved to the neighborhood.

According to Entertainment Weekly, de Matteo is likely coming on board to help the ABC show regain its edge after the departure of Nicolette Sheridan last season.

Casting is reportedly underway for her landscape designer husband and their tightly wound son.

I can’t wait!  I miss Nicolette Sheridan, but Drea will add an interesting mix to the show!

And Drea will have no problem playing a mom on the show - she’s a real life mom to daughter Alabama Gypsy Rose, 19 months.
