Michael’s Will Disses Father Joe Jackson
Ouch. Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson — long suspected of being the abusive and tyrannical figure that both drove MJ to greatness and to ruin — is not mentioned in MJ’s will, at all. According to reports, a will written in 2002 has surfaced this week, and it leaves everything to Michael’s mom, children, and charities.
If your at all familiar with Michael’s bio, then you probably know that his relationship with his father has long been on hostile terms. From PopCrunch:
“In a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Michael claimed he was physically and psychological battered by his father during his days as a charttopping child star.
Joe denied the child abuse allegations in a 2003 chat with Louis Theroux for the BBC.
‘I whipped him with a switch and a belt. I never beat him. You beat someone with a stick.’”
Did Michael really cut his father out as a sort of revenge for MJ’s troubled childhood? If so, how could you blame him?
I’m just hoping that the news about MJ leaving his Beatles royalties to Paul McCartney is true. That’s a cool move.
