BREAKING: S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford Says He Has Been Unfaithful to His Wife
Mystery solved: ‘Missing’ South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford was not off writing somewhere as his wife had said, or hiking the Appalachian Trail as his staff had told the public. Sanford was on a ‘secret’ trip to Argentina, and has now admitted to having an extra-marital affair with an Argentinean woman. In a news conference that just ended the married father of four apologized to his wife, children and staff.
Sanford told reporters that he met the woman about eight years ago, but “about a year ago, it sparked into something more than that.” He also said that his wife and family had known about the affair for the past five months.
Sanford also announced that he was resigning as chairman of the Republican Governors’ Association.
Can this story get any stranger? I can only imagine how Sanford’s family is feeling, and while his wife’s complacency at his disappearance indicates she did know about the affair, I wonder how much his four sons actually knew. Let’s hope they do everything they can to keep the kids out of the spotlight.
