South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford is Missing

Inquiring minds want to know: Where in the world is South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford? The governor has been missing since Thursday, when he ditched his security detail, missed Father’s Day with his four sons and didn’t show up for work on Monday morning.
According to reports his wife, the state’s lieutenant governor and police officials all say they have no idea where Sanford is although Jenny Sanford told the Associated Press she wasn’t worried about her husband’s disappearance.
“He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids,” she said while on vacation with the couple’s sons Marshall, Landon, Bolton, Blake.
Late this afternoon, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer’s office told the State newspaper that Sanford had “called in” but refused to elaborate on the governor’s whereabouts.
Sanford is known for being at odds with President Obama over the stimulus package. He is chairman of the Republican Governors Association and considered a leading Republican presidential candidate in 2012. I’d like to see him pull this disappearing act if he ever made it to the White House. Also, what kind of person ditches his kids on Father’s Day so he can go ‘write something’? Sounds fishy to me. Stay tuned.
