Alec Baldwin has come a long way since the recorded tapes of him talking to his daughter on the phone were released. He’s come so far that he is going to write a parenting book.

What? Yep, that’s what he said, I promise. You can read all about it in the July/August issue of Playboy Magazine,  he gave a very candid interview about everything from parenting to Johnny Depp. He also talked about his vow to never appear on “Today” .

About parenting and the book he plans to write he said: “It will be ironic for some people, but I’m going to write a parenting book. We’re at, not a crisis, but an awful place right now in terms of parenting. People are raising their children with the belief that we need to be friends with our children.”

His reason for never appearing on “Today”: “I’m on an NBC show, and Today was considered vital. But when that voice-mail tape thing happened, Matt Lauer interviewed [Harvey] Levin before he even called me. Lauer put Levin on Today, and they never phoned me. When it’s in their interest to reach me, they know how. I saw that and said, ‘My relationship with the Today show is over.’ I’ll never do Today again, ever. Life’s too short.”

I think I’d be peeved too.

I think Alec Baldwin is great, I love him on “30 Rock” and can’t think of anything I haven’t liked, that he’s done. Wait, maybe I should clarify and say I Haven’t seen all of his movies.
