Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Continue to Make the Rest of Us Look Bad

Over the weekend Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and his family donated $1 million to St. Johns Hospital in Missouri. That’s $999,999 more than most of us losers have donated to any causes over the past couple of days.
The generous donation, which will establish a fund to pay children’s cancer specialists, was announced by Brad’s brother Doug in his hometown of Springfield on Saturday. The hospital’s cancer treatment unit will be renamed the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, in honor of Brad’s mom, who works on behalf of children’s issues.
The money will also go towards building a new pediatric unit and doubling the size of the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units at St. Johns. A 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald house is also planned.
I know it’s easy to knock Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but at least this is one Hollywood couple that gives back to the community. In doing so, they’re setting a good example for their six kids, too. To my credit, my daughters did witness me give that dollar to the homeless guy yesterday.
