Madonna’s Adoption is Approved and Not Just Because She’s a Celebrity
Apparently whatever Madonna wants, Madonna gets. Malawi’s high court overruled a lower court on Friday and cleared the way for the singer to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James. Rumor has it that fame and money had absolutely, positively nothing to do with it. No bearing whatsoever. Nada. Zip.
“I am ecstatic,” Madonna said in a statement in which she thanked the court with a wink and a nod. “My family and I look forward to sharing our lives with her.”
While one of Mercy’s uncles welcomed the ruling, James Kambewa, a man who claims to be the little girl’s father told CBS news “I’m crying. I need my baby. I don’t know where I can find any help.”
