Don’t know how things go at your place, but in my home, those manuals, promo cards and other paper doodads that come packaged inside of every new video game quickly end up strewn about the playroom. Well, with the holiday 2010 release of its first-ever Shaun White Skateboarding video game, Ubisoft promises to help keep things clean in that area — which is some welcome news this Earth Day.
Starting with the packaging for Shaun White Skateboarding, Ubisoft will be replacing all of its paper game manuals with in-game digital manuals for all PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 titles. (Ubisoft already provides digital manuals for its PC games.) What this means for you is that kids will still be able to figure out how to play the game without hand-holding — they’ll just also be able to do it without generating more trash. The program is the first of its kind for the video-game industry — here’s hoping it’s the start of a trend.
